The Venezuelan and Cuban prosecutors, Tarek William Saab and Yamila Peña Ojeda, respectively, signed an institutional collaboration agreement during a meeting held by both officials on the Caribbean island, the Venezuelan Public Ministry (MP, Prosecutor’s Office) reported this Saturday.
In a statement, the Venezuelan institution reviewed several of the meetings held by Saab as part of the work agenda that he has been in Cuba, since last Wednesday, to strengthen cooperation between his office and the island’s judicial bodies and participate in activities cultural.
On Twitter, Saab noted that this agreement with the Cuban Prosecutor’s Office is added to one signed in 2018 and will allow “continue advancing in the exchange of ideas and projects to strengthen Justice.”
During his visit to Havana, the prosecutor also held “a fraternal meeting” as he described it on his Twitter account, with the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, whom he thanked “for his solidarity and contribution to the unity of the great homeland”, reviewed the letter.
In addition, he met with the foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez, with the Cuban writer Abel Prieto and visited the singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez.
Cuba and Venezuela have been close political and economic allies since the so-called Bolivarian revolution came to power in 1999.
