Plane fighting forest fire crashed in Hualqui: pilot survived and causes are being investigated

The Air Tractor AT-802 fell to the ground while fighting the fire of forest fires in the Chemizal de Hualqui sector, in the Biobío Region, capo, without causing a major tragedy. The pilot managed to survive and his injuries are being treated, as confirmed by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Carolina Tohá.

Minister Tohá reported that the aircraft that was operating contracted by Conaf fell to the ground. Meanwhile, the pilot was rescued from the ship, he is being treated at a nearby health center, his name is Rodolfo Saa and “our first words at this press point are to wish him his recovery,” said the Secretary of State.

“The flights that are made in the fight against the fire are more risky than usual, it is not strange that we see accidents. In fact, this is the second accident that we have seen in this fire,” Carolina Tohá remarked, along with warning that “not yet We have a technical report on how the accident was caused.”

So far, they have only confirmed “that the pilot could be rescued from the ship,” he said. “Apparently the lesions that he has are fundamentally in the torso, which are discomforts, the origin of which has not yet been identified, because they are examining it,” added Tohá.

“But he is alive and we hope he can recover quickly,” closed the minister.

The head of Interior and Public Security also confirmed that the most complicated forest fires are focused this Saturday in the Ñuble (Ninhue, Quirihue and Quillón) and Biobío (Tomé and Nacimiento) regions.
