Judge Emilio Pinto declared a recess this Friday afternoon until March 13 in the oral trial hearing for the case of defacing walls of the State Attorney General’s Office in October 2020. During these last five days, the Public Ministry concluded with the presentation of documentary evidence, testimonies and some videos to support its accusation against the members of the Cochala Youth Resistance (RJC), whom it accuses of being the intellectual authors of the acts of violence on October 5, 6 and 7, 2020.

Pinto highlighted the progress of the oral trial that began in November 2022 and there were no interruptions on the scheduled hearing days. “The restart of the oral trial will be on March 13 from 10:00 and the production of the test of the Ministry of Government will continueand the defense must exhaust its evidence,” said the judge.

In the opinion of the defendants, none of the witnesses personally identified the defendants with facts classified as crimes, they are not aware of them either and if they saw them it was through the media, according to lawyer Jhasmani Torrico.

Instead, the Public Ministry, through the prosecutor Javier Gorena, indicated that the witnesses evidenced the presence of the RJC organization as masterminds of the acts of violence and that if they do not appear directly it is because “they were careful” for other people to execute the actions.

Gorena said that the Public Ministry offered 11 witnesses who in their statement demonstrated “sufficient and abundant” evidence to substantiate the accused facts and the concurrence of the crimes.

Although the witnesses did not identify the defendants, Gorena said that “obviously it is because they have taken due care in planning these actions and that is why our witnesses are proving that situation.”
“The theory of the Public Ministry, based on the facts that have been investigated and are now being judged, from the beginning has been the mediate authorship, that is to say that these gentlemen, as leaders and leaders of the RJC, have led these violent actions on the facade of the State Attorney General’s Office,” he emphasized.

Incident

On Wednesday, the defendant Yassir Molina gave a blow to the friend of the co-defendant Milena Soto, also prosecuted in this trial, the fight did not go any further because the Police and the others present intervened.

Mario Bascopé, another of the defendants, stated that the attack on one of his RJC comrades was simply an “altercation” and that as an organization they are united to face this process.

On Wednesday, some people from Cochabamba arrived in Sucre to support Milena Soto, which caused friction among the members of the RJC. Molina hit someone because he allegedly threatened his wife who is pregnant. Soto denounced that Molina surprised her friend with a fist and that not even the Police could prevent it.
