Prosecutor’s Office upholds request for preventive detention against Yaneth Navarro and Cirilo Jara

yesterday the prosecution supported the request for preventive detention for 36 months against Yaneth Navarro and Cyril Jara for the crime of criminal organization. As announced by sources from Peru21, prosecutor Arturo Mosqueira requested the measure on February 8.

During the presentation of the evidence to support the request, Mosqueira announced that Navarro had been one of the leaders of the violent marches that took place in Andahuaylas and that he collaborated with the plan to take over the airport of that city.

The prosecutor explained that the attempt to seize the Jorge Chávez airport in Lima was premeditated.

Regarding Cirilo Jara, they indicated that as a union leader he threatened the members of these organizations so that they would participate in the protests. The hearing was suspended and will resume on Saturday, February 11.

She is blamed for inciting protests from the Ayacucho Defense Front (Fredepa), an organization generated from Sendero Luminoso.
