The president of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou and the president of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereirathey crossed paths and greeted each other distantly at the “Chicken and Hen Festival 2023”, which took place in the town of San Bautista, Canelones.
When the President of the Republic was looking at a stand, Pereira approached from behind, touched his back and greeted him. Lacalle Pou returned the greeting and quickly ran to greet other people and turned his back on Pereira.
“How are you Luis?” Pereira told the president. “Take care, let’s talk”was Lacalle’s response, as he left the place.
“It is a greeting between two citizens who respect each other but who have had profound differences,” Pereira told Telemundo.
