Pedro Castillo refused to testify as a witness in the Anguía and Sunat cases

In a procedure scheduled for today by the Public Ministry, former President Pedro Castillo placed obstacles for the judicial authorities to take his statement as a witness in the cases and the Municipality of Anguía.

Sources of this newspaper in Diroes (Castillo’s place of confinement), indicated that the former president, first, argued that it was a visiting day. Then he indicated that his defense attorney Eduardo Pachas had not attended and, finally, he sent word that he was in poor health because his ear hurt.

Prosecutor Jorge García – a member of the special team that investigates corruption in power – ordered the compulsive driving of Pedro Castillo for February 20 with the support of the Police.

What happened today in the Diroes – where the professor from Chota is serving a preventive prison for perpetrating a coup d’état – is an act that makes it difficult to correctly continue the investigative procedures carried out by the Public Ministry.

WHAT IS THE SUNAT CASE?

The former head of the Sunat Luis Vera Castillo assured that the former Secretary General of the Presidential Office made “inappropriate” requests to favor third parties.

Pacheco’s requests to Vera referred to the appointment of a public auctioneer in Trujillo, Marco Urbina Chumpitassi, the non-collection of a tax debt and an inspection process of the Deltron company, and also the expansion of mercury imports from 20 to 500 tons by the company MQVC Corporation.

WHAT IS THE ANGUÍA CASE?

is accused of being the link for the companies of his friend Hugo Espino to win the million-dollar contracts with the Ministry of Housing and for the mayor of Anguía (Cajamarca), José Medina.

Medina is accused of being a ringleader in the criminal organization under the command of the Chotano professor. His function would have been to facilitate the routing of works in his locality, and he would even be the recipient of illicit money that was paid in exchange for works. In his territory, one of the favored companies was Destcon.
