The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), headed by Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, issued the agreement to create the National Prevention Committee, a mechanism for coordinating risk and disaster prevention actions that must be carried out by agencies and entities of the federal public administration

This body was approved on August 15, 2022, in the fourth ordinary session of the National Civil Protection Council, and among other powers, it must coordinate actions between agencies and entities of the federal public administration, related to the implementation of prevention measures. and disaster risk reduction, with a comprehensive management vision.
It will also define and will coordinate the implementation of national strategies on disaster risk prevention and reduction, as well as promote their incorporation into sectoral, institutional, special, and regional programs of the federal public administration.

The National Prevention Committee will propose actions in the area of disaster prevention that link the National Civil Protection System with the systems of the federal and municipal entities and the territorial demarcations of Mexico City
.
The body will be chaired by the head of the SSPC or in his absence by the head of the National Center for Disaster Prevention.
