They arrest a Cuban who posed as a baseball player and defrauded $6,600 in the Dominican Republic

The National Police of the Dominican Republic arrested this Wednesday the Cuban Alejandro David Hernández Castro for defrauding 6,612 dollars (376,128 Dominican pesos). According to a reportthe detainee, who was posing as a baseball player, used a bottomless bank card in three establishments to pay for food and get a tattoo.

Upon learning of the arrest of Hernández Castro, the scammed went to ratify the complaint. A Dominican woman, whose name was omitted, accused the detainee of “consuming food and drinks in the company of several people” in the restaurant located on Mustafá Kemal street, in the Naco expansion. The account was for 940 dollars (53,528.20 Dominican pesos) that he covered with a card issued in the United States.

According to the Dominican authorities, the card with which “apparently” Hernández Castro paid, “is from a US financial entity in which the digital verifone (payment platform) approves consumption, but the money never falls into the account of the commercial establishment.” .

The National Police stressed that the Department of Investigation of Crimes and High Technology Crimes investigates this type of fraud.

Another accusation against the alleged 22-year-old baseball player was made by the owner of a nightclub. He pointed to Hernández Castro, who in the company of several people, consumed different drinks during his stay at the place and his bill amounted to $5,273 (300,000 Dominican pesos). The scam method was similar to the restaurant.

A tattoo artist also identified Alejandro David as the subject who went to his establishment located in the Los Prados sector and introduced himself as a player who would be recruited by a Major League team. The alleged athlete asked him to put an image of him on his back and ended up defrauding him of about $400 (22,600 Dominican pesos).

Hernández Castro was arrested while traveling on the 27 de Febrero avenue, crossing with Abraham Lincoln, in the National District. At the time of his arrest, he did not have any identification documents. After capturing him, the police found that among his belongings were two false passports.

It was also possible to learn that the detainee illegally entered a raft. The journey was from Haiti, so he is undocumented in the Dominican Republic.

The detainee is under the control of the Fiscal Office of the National District of the Naco expansion, for the corresponding legal purposes.
