Despite the harsh questions that the deputy Juan Diego Vasquez made this afternoon to the Ministry of Education (Meduca) for not taking advantage of the resources assigned to it for schools that really or need, the Budget Commission of the National Assembly approved six transfers of games for 17 million 580 thousand 412 balboas for the institution.
The vice minister of infrastructure, Ricardo Sánchez, maintained that these monies will be used to meet financial commitments such as vacation pay for temporary hires, supply of electricity and water, pay costs for the construction of school structures in Panama Oeste and Colón, rental of premises for teach classes, among other responsibilities, to the Ministry of Education (Meduca) the National Assembly.
Before these six transfers were approved, Vasquez pointed out that there are educational centers that are still ranch schools and others that are not in areas of difficult access that still use latrines or hole toilets. He also questioned that some schools do not have a kitchen and that multigrade classrooms continue to exist.
One of the main agreements that Meduca acquired was the payment to 4,856 teachers in THFA status, who were appointed until the end of the year 2022. This transfer is for 4,551,577 balboas. This item was reinforced with savings from January and February, from 1,613 positions of employees on leave without pay.
It was also approved to transfer 455,396 balboas to disburse the funds of a time addendum, related to the design and construction project of the Altos de San Francisco School, in the district of La Chorrera.
Another school structure from which four collection efforts must be canceled, for one million 619 thousand 183 balboas, is the Anastasia Miter Educational Center, located in the township of Palmas Bellas, district of Chagres, province of Colón.
On the other hand, it is necessary to transfer B/.7,804,924 to meet the costs of electricity and drinking water supply of various schools and Meduca offices throughout the national territory.
Similarly, the Ministry of Education requires canceling the rentals of premises that were used to house students, teachers and administrative staff of the Fermín Naudeau, Comercial Bolívar, Republic of Venezuela and Medalla Milagrosa schools for 2 million 528 thousand 613 balboas.
Finally, with a transfer of B/.620,719, it is expected to cancel accounts for the collection of solid waste and lawn mowing at different schools in the country, according to Finance records.
