Three people deceased is the current balance of a traffic accident that occurred last Sunday in Matanzas. Two vehicles collided that afternoon on the Tinguaro highway, on the highway from the municipality of Colón that goes to Perico.
Two trucks were involved in the incident, one belonging to a private carrier that covers the route between Calimete and Cárdenas and another dedicated to transporting cane.
As a result of the side impact, as can be seen in the images, two people died on the spot, while the third died in hospital due to the seriousness of the injuries sustained.
The injured were transferred to the Mario Muñoz Monroy Hospital in Colón, with the exception of a 14-year-old boy who was sent to the Eliseo Noel Caamaño Provincial Pediatric Hospital and this Tuesday was critical but stable in the center’s Neurosurgery area. According to the director of the center to the official press, José Hernández Hernández, his prognosis is reserved.
A light car whose occupants were unharmed despite the damage sustained by the vehicle was also affected by the crash.
In 2021 there were 5,612 accidents in Cuba, which left 350 dead and 3,700 injured, according to the National Road Safety Commission.
