Tiziana Polesel, president of the National Council of Commerce and Services (Consecomercio), He assured that the economic recovery registered in the commercial sector in 2022 began to recede in December.
In an interview granted this Monday, February 6 to Union Radio, Polesel said that the trade reported 15% less throughout the country in terms of units than what they sold in December 2021. He added that “it was moved to January and there is talk of a terrible January.”

He stated that to date they have not been able to meet with the Minister of National Commerce, Antonio Morales. “We do not know what is related to the proposal for the territorialization of prices, because we have not yet been able to meet with Minister Antonio Morales and we will propose to him to review the profit margins because what the Government considers fair at this moment from our point of view, is they omit a series of costs that we incur,” he added.
He reiterated that Consecomercio bets that prices are set by the market because “any type of regulation or control brings scarcity.”

In his opinion, he stressed that it is very cumbersome, both for the merchant and for the consumer, to work with two currencies and multiple payment systems. “What Venezuelans are experiencing is not normal.”
