General Inspectorate of the Bolivian Police requested a report from the Directorate of Prison Security, about the escape of Brazilian prisoner Felipe Edvaldo Menezes, alias André Xavier da Rocharegistered last week in La Paz.
According to the data collected, it could start a disciplinary process against police officers who have responsibility for the actwhich caused the death of a cash, product of a shooting at the Hospital de Clínicas, in La Paz.
“My authority has requested with a memorandum the national director of Penitentiary Security, Colonel Romero, in order to that the reports of all police officers involved in the matter be sent”, said the head of that instance, Colonel Augusto Russo
He stated that the investigation covers “not only those who have guarded the prisoner, but also those they designate, the head of securitythe governor and all the people who have to do with security in the Chonchocoro prison.”
The Brazilian prisoner He left the maximum security prison to undergo a medical examination. As a result of his escape, he and four people are prosecuted for the murder of one of the guards and a doctor for breach of duty.
“With all the information that they send me, we will assess all the documentation and if necessary, refer to the appropriate disciplinary body so that the responsibilities of police officers can be identified,” added the police chief.
Menezes left the Chonchocoro prison to undergo a medical examination from a fracture he suffered 20 years ago. His recapture mobilized a large police contingent and now he is back in prison.
