The Government suspended the application of the Tax for an Inclusive and Solidarity Argentina (PAÍS) to purchase operations of banknotes and foreign currency for the import of pickups, vans, vans and rigid trucksthrough decree 58/202 published in the Official Gazette.
In this way, those who import this type of vehicle they will pay the official exchange rate which on Friday closed at $195.40.
Law 27,541 on Social Solidarity and Productive Reactivation in the Public Emergency Framework and its amendments incorporated the so-called COUNTRY Tax in December 2019.

In October of last year, it was determined that the tax included the purchase of banknotes and currency in foreign currency carried out by residents in the country for the payment of obligations for the importation of merchandise included in the tariff positions of the Common Nomenclature of the Mercosur (NCM).
These positions corresponded to luxury goods concentrated in users with high purchasing power and that demand the acquisition of foreign currency for issues unrelated to any national productive chain, as well as vehicles that, due to their configuration, are not designed for any use other than the transport of goods.
However, the Government now determined to “suspend the aforementioned tax for those vehicles included in the aforementioned tariff items, as long as they are pick-up trucks, vans, vans or rigid trucks, designed for a maximum of three passengers, on the same line, including the driver, regardless of its value.
