Chess player Oleiny Linares is national Blitz champion

With an almost perfect performance of 6.5 points in seven rounds, Oleiny Linares from Santiago was crowned for the second consecutive year in the national chess tournament, Blitz modality, held in Holguín as a prelude to the absolute contest that begins this Wednesday.

Oleiny had no compassion for his rivals in a fight with games scheduled for three minutes, plus two seconds extra after each move, and sent signals for what is to come in the coming days.

After her, Yaniela Forgas, also from Santiago, completed the podium with six points, and Yerisbel Miranda, from Pinar del Río, with 4.5 points, in that order.

16 women competed in the fair, including 11 of the 12 who will dispute the absolute national crown in an appointment that will be played by the system of All against All, in one round.

On the afternoon of this Tuesday, the technical congress was also held, as well as the draw to define the duels of the first day.

Lisandra Ordaz from Pinar del Río, defending queen of the 2020 tournament – the last time these classics were held – will take the black pieces as the opponent of Ineymig Hernández, from Camagüey, in what could be an attractive generational duel.

Oleiny will also move the black figures against Villa Clara’s Patricia Hernández, one of those who advanced from the closed elimination matches on Tuesday morning.

The rest of the matches will have the first mentioned driving the white pieces: Maritza Arribas (SCU)-Yerisbel; Yaniela-Karen Gutierrez (MTZ); Yoanna González (HAB)-Yuleisy Hernández (HAB) and Zirka Frómeta (SCU)-Leannet Bosch (SCU).
