A deployment of 300 uniformed personnel from the different security forces such as the National Police, the National Aeronaval Service and the National Border Service have been distributed throughout the district of San Miguelito as part of the operational and police actions that seek to dismantle organized groups. of gangs responsible for acts of violence and homicides registered in recent days.

Initially, the Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, and Vice Minister Ivor Pitti participated in a coordination meeting with the National Police board to follow up on the actions that have been carried out in the last 72 hours in the San Miguelito district. .

Minister Juan Manuel Pino pointed out that security in the district has been reinforced with special units from all security levels, to guarantee security and social peace in the communities.

“What is happening in San Miguelito is due to drug riots that have awakened old disputes and promote fights for control of territory between criminal groups that operate in the sector and are responsible for 80% of the homicide cases that have been registered”, reported the Minister.

At the end of the security meeting, Minister Pino assured in an energetic tone that “a high police presence will be maintained in all sectors of San Miguelito, including areas considered sensitive, where unfortunate events have been recorded that, I reiterate, are the result of of the quarrels that criminal groups maintain that also have a dispute for power within the gangs, a fight that is the cause of the violence, that are leaving mourning and pain to their own relatives.

He added that the message is clear “the Ministry of Public Security will use all the force of the State, through the security forces, to confront organized crime that is causing acts of violence that disturb public order in the communities, let’s go to continue confiscating weapons, drugs, money and dismantling criminal organizations,” he said.

So far this year, units of the National Police have carried out more than 120 raids in different sectors of the district, achieving the seizure of illegal substances, plus 20 firearms and the retention of 300 people who have been handed over to the authorities. competent for these linked to the commission of a crime.

At the end of February, the San Miguelito district will have a video surveillance center with more than 600 cameras located at different points, which will be an important tool in the work carried out by the security forces in the district.
