The minister of Energy and MinesAntonio Almonte, handed over to the Chamber of Accounts, the Comptroller General of the Republic and the general administration of the Thermoelectric Power Plant Punta Catalina, one technical-forensic audit of the process of construction and commissioning of that plant carried out by the North American engineering firm Sargent and Lundy.
Engineer Almonte visited separately the three entities to deliver the technical study directly to Janel Ramírez Sánchez, president of the Chamber of Accounts; Félix Santana García, Comptroller General of the Republic and Celso Marranzini Pérez, administrator of the thermoelectric plant, according to a press release.
The study was conducted between November 2021 and October 2022. and addresses the processes of designreceiving materials and equipmentthe stage of constructiontesting and commissioning of the thermoelectric complex, says the document.
“The information in the report could be very useful for the present and future efficient management of the generating plants and their related areas. Furthermore, for the review and confirmation compliance with the contractual stipulations assumed by the consortium headed by the firm odebrechtresponsible for the construction of the project”, he highlights.
During the visits, Minister Almonte was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Energy, Rafael Gómez. Likewise, in each institution The officials visited were accompanied by some of their main collaborators.
The ministry reported that the United States company Sargent & Lundy was contracted through international public bidding CDEEE-CCC-LPI-2021-0002in accordance with Law 340-06 on Public Procurement and Contracting.
He indicated that the firm made its inquiry over a period of almost a year, during which time he delivered preliminary reports which were studied by the technical teams of the Ministry of Energy.
