The Justice charged and ordered preventive detention for 180 days for the brother of Giuliana Larathe 27-year-old woman who was missing in Paysandú since Monday and what was it found dead this Friday along with her 8-year-old son. The man is pointed out as the culprit of having committed the double crime.
The Paysandú Police Chief, Eduar Álvez, said at a press conference that he is an ex-sailor with a history of bribery and that he had several inquiries due to a complaint made by an ex-partner.
The Court classified him as a crime of kinship aggravated homicide. Will remain 180 days in prison, pending the oral trial, reported from the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation.
The prosecutor in the case, Cecilia Irigoyen, indicated —in a press conference reported by El Telégrafo— that they located the crime on the night of January 31. Giuliana Lara’s father had reported her missing that same day. They are still not clear about the scene of the crime, but they understand “that there was an event and that later they tried to eliminate all indications or evidence of that event.” The arrest warrant for the older victim’s brother was requested on Thursday night, February 2, and the Justice authorized it on Friday morning, February 3.
Hours later, he arrested the woman’s brother, who was riding the victim’s motorcycle in the Salto department. However, at that time there were not enough elements to link him to the crime, so he was released, even though he had been the last person to see them alive.
This Friday the search operation found the bodies of both the woman and the child, and arrested the man again, this time under the presumption that he had committed the double crime, something that the investigation ended up verifying.
