Carabineros reported this Saturday morning about the arrest of the person allegedly responsible for a forest fire in the Libuy sector, Bulnes commune, in the Ñuble Region. The incident affected four hectares.
As reported by the institution, the subject used an electric emery while fixing a gate, which caused sparks and started the fire in a nearby dry pasture.
The 73-year-old man would have ignored the notice of Faena Cero by the prevention organizations for the entire central-south sector of the country.
The subject was detained by police officers from the Santa Clara checkpoint for his alleged responsibility for starting the forest fire.
“For his responsibility in the origin of the forest fire that affected 4 hectares in the Libuy sector in bulnesGuard Police Santa Clara yesterday detained a subject who negligently used an electric grinder that caused sparks, starting the fire,” Carabineros reported through their social networks.
It should be noted that the central south of the country is facing a critical situation as a result of the fires. In addition, the State of Catastrophe is maintained for the Ñuble Region, as well as for the La Araucanía and Biobío regions.
