A scandal in the Municipality of Artigas has caused controversy after information about the alleged irregular salary of an official, Stefani Severo, went viral on social networks. Despite working only 6 hours a day, her nominal salary reached 181,000 pesos, including overtime and additional compensation.
Stefani Severo is the partner of the general secretary of the mayor’s office, Rodolfo Caram, and the sister of a municipal official. Rodolfo is Pablo’s cousin, the mayor. But, for the Municipality of Artigas, there is nothing wrong here and not much to discuss. “There is nothing to determine that there was an irregularity or a crime here,” said the general director of the mayor’s office, Emiliano Soravilla, in recent hours.

Soravilla was also quick to clarify the official’s link with the departmental government of the mayor of the National Party, Pablo Caram. He assures that she recently resigned from her position, citing alleged personal reasons that have not been disclosed.
Regarding their personal relationship, the director general stated that “the secretary general is not the immediate superior of this official.” “The amount may sound absurd, but if it is documented and the hours were performed, there is not much absurdity,” concluded Soravilla.
