The Vice Minister of Internal Commerce, Ramón Pérez Fermín, reported this Friday that the government is maintaining efforts through the extraordinary subsidy plan so that fuels continue to be frozen and for the week of February 4 to 10, 2023 more than 500 million pesos will be allocated .

He explained that the closing of WTI operations per barrel during this week in the international markets ranged between US$76.41 as the minimum value, and US$81.01 as the highest quoted value.

“It is always important to point out that, in addition to WTI, the prices of derivative products such as gasoline and diesel depend on the behavior of supply and demand, as well as the specific conditions of their markets in particular and the availability of inventories. Therefore, refined products can trade with differences to the variations of the WTI”.

He also said that the international price of diesel and gasoline has maintained a significant difference in relation to the price of crude oil since the beginning of the war, which has limited local prices from decreasing at the same rate as crude oil.

“In this sense, the government of President Luis Abinader, once again, freezes all fuel prices, thus avoiding the increases that this complex international context continues to cause. By freezing these prices, the Dominican government assumes a great sacrifice of close to RD$564.6 million to avoid increases in Regular Diesel for RD$50.18, Optimal Diesel for RD$50.48, Premium Gasoline for RD$21.71, and Regular Gasoline for RD$21.13”, detailed.
