According to the organization, in these demarcations the low temperatures will go from -2 to 0 degrees, with frost, during the dawn of Saturday, February 4, mainly in the high areas. The municipalities where the red alert is activated are:
- Milpa Alta
- tlalpan
- xochimilco
The recommendations for the population that lives or travels through these areas are the following:
- Use cream to moisturize and protect your skin from the cold.
- Wear at least three layers of clothing, preferably cotton or wool.
- Before going to sleep or going out, put out candles and stoves to avoid a fire or carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Cover nose and mouth to avoid direct exposure to environmental contaminants.
What does the color alert system mean?
The different meteorological phenomena have an alert classification by the Civil Protection of Mexico City to determine the degree of risk. In the case of low temperatures, the green alert implies normal weather that does not drop below six degrees Celsius.
