State of Emergency declared in Chile due to forest fires

The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, decreed this Friday, February 3, a State of Constitutional Exception of Catastrophe in the Biobío and Ñuble Region after the series of forest fires that have been registered in these areas of the country.

According to Boric, by declaring a State of Emergency they will be able to fight the fires that affect the territory and all protection resources will be deployed for citizens.

«I have instructed to decree a State of Constitutional Exception of Catastrophe to combat the forest fires that flourish in the Biobío Region and ensure the safety of people. I will visit the Region of Ñuble and Biobío to accompany the families. We are with you!” said the president through his Twitter account.

He stressed that the entire force of the State will be deployed to fight the flames and to accompany all the victims.

Boric moved to the Biobío region to coordinate actions and support families affected by the forest fires.
