The Minister of the Court of Appeals of Santiago Paola Plaza and the Legal Medical Service (SML) reported the discovery of 89 boxes with bones and other unexperienced remains at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile. They had been in the compound for more than 20 years and could belong to detainees who disappeared from the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.
As published yesterday by the Association of Relatives of the Detained-Disappeared of Chile (AFDD) on its social networks, Plaza and the SML reported on the finding at a meeting of relatives of DD.DD., held in Calama, Antofagasta Region.
“It is a very serious situation that must be investigated and the responsibilities found,” the AFDD said in a statement.
“This is part of a policy of impunity that the State has had for all these years. There must be political responsibilities for this new negligence,” they added.
