The Vice Minister of Tourism, Madeleine Burns, announced that the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) began a series of meetings with the authorities and the private sector of Lambayeque with the aim of promoting tourism in this important region in northern Peru.
For this reason, she arrived in the region accompanied by a technical team made up of professionals from Mincetur, Plan Copesco Nacional, Cenfotur and Promperú, who met with the regional lieutenant governor, Flor Saavedra, the regional manager of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Félix Mío; the mayor of Puerto Eten, Luis Baca Castañeda; the deputy mayor of Chiclayo, Jorge Arévalo; the president of the Regional Tourism Advisory Committee – CCRT Lambayeque, María Isabel Espinal, among other authorities, officials and union representatives.
The Vice Minister of Tourism, Madeleine Burns, highlighted the importance of promoting tourism investment and articulating efforts between the private sector and subnational governments and those of the national government within the framework of reactivating the sector in Lambayeque.
“Lambayeque is one of the tourist destinations prioritized by the sector. It is important to promote tourism investment projects, security promotion, and training of human material, in coordination with the regional and local government and the private sector,” said Vice Minister Madeleine Burns during a visit to the region together with a technical team from the Ministry. Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
Burns’ arrival in the region occurred in the company of professionals from Mincetur, Plan Copesco Nacional, Cenfotur and Promperú, who met with the regional lieutenant governor, Flor Saavedra, the regional manager of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Félix Mío; the mayor of Puerto Eten, Luis Baca Castañeda; the deputy mayor of Chiclayo, Jorge Arévalo; the president of the Regional Tourism Advisory Committee – CCRT Lambayeque, María Isabel Espinal, among other authorities, officials and union representatives.
According to Mincetur, the region “is a competitive, sustainable and safe tourist destination, positioned in the national market and recognized in the main markets for receptive tourism for the diversity and quality of its cultural, nature and living culture offerings”.
The vice minister met with the Lambayeque Regional Tourism Advisory Committee (CCRT Lambayeque), made up of representatives of the regional government, provincial and local municipalities, Sernanp, the private sector and academia, to coordinate actions that strengthen the Lambayeque region as a destination tourist.
“We agreed to work jointly in the promotion of internal tourism, support in the organization of events such as the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the Water Festival. Also prioritize investment projects that can be financed through the Con Punche Peru Plan, promote interregional air connectivity, technical assistance through the Center for Extension and Technology Transfer (CET) of CENFOTUR and promote the Lambayeque brand with the technical assistance of Promperú ”, he explained.
