The governor of the Chonchocoro penitentiary center in La Paz, Napoleón Espejo, was relieved of his position, after the escape of Felipe Edvaldo Menezez Iglesias (alias Andrés Luis Xavier da Rocha).
The prisoner’s escape, who was recaptured the same Tuesday, cost the life of a police officer who served as his guard.
The report on the suspension of Espejo was known this Thursday afternoon by Colonel Hernán Romero, director of Prison Securitywho also announced adjustments to improve control measures in the prison.
“He has already been relieved and another new director will have Chonchocoro. The necessary adjustments will be made, we are in full study. First, so that all those involved in these events receive a sanction. We already have four apprehended,” said Romero, in contact with the La Paz media.
He even revealed that improvements will be made to the security mechanisms of the prison, “so that these events do not happen again. We know that all we can err, but from these lessons we will improve“, the uniformed man maintained, in time to indicate that the other cash, who was injured, continues to be hospitalized.

He was known by this name when, together with his compatriot Emerson Michael Da Silva, he victimized the farmer Wilson Ledezma in Minero (north of Santa Cruz), on March 22, 2022.
