The detection of Dalia López’s vehicle in a shopping mall in Asunción continues to spark controversy and suspicion grows regarding the alleged support that the woman has in the ranks of the Police.
From the prosecutor’s office they “refloated” an audio in which Marcelo Pecci expressed his belief, close to conviction, that López, rather than being sought to bring her to justice, was protected by police officers.
“Really the only answer you can have is that
she (Dalia) is showing more strength than the police themselves. I can assume that she is being assisted by people from the State service who are there to apprehend her and she is with impunity, “Pecci said in an interview she had with journalists.
On that occasion, the former anti-mafia prosecutor insisted that without protection, it is impossible for a person to evade justice for a long time.
“These people are showing, that they succeed in hiding that they are winning this battle. I can assume that she is being assisted by people from the State service who should apprehend her, and that is why she is with impunity,” Pecci remarked.
What determines that López has the protection of the security service authorities? Pecci then responded that the perception is that women can implicate a certain group of power, thus generating fear of the powerful.
“These people are prevented from submitting to the justice system, and this is because there would be a fear of what these people can be blamed for, in simple terms, if I fall, I will not fall alone,” he added.
Almost three years after the Ronaldinho case, Dalia López, considered the mastermind of the episode, is a fugitive from justice.
