As for the links of big business with the Ortega regime, the group recalled that Aguerri “represented the will of thousands of businessmen who years ago took advantage of the economic boom produced by “Venezuelan aid” and many international organizations.”
«Like thousands of Nicaraguans they never dimensioned the enormous risks that the institutional dismantling of the incipient democracy of Nicaragua meant. Their criticism of the government was lukewarm, but finally the popular rebellion changed their outlook and they broke with the regime,” the Grex stressed.
He adds that the Nicaraguan regime does not forgive the change of position of José Adán Aguerri and other Cosep executives, for which reason it kidnapped and sentenced them. “He is in prison because he exercised his right to change, to rectify, challenging the monster that had taken root, running the risks that thousands of Nicaraguans have taken,” he remarked.
He also stressed that in all the time he has been deprived of his liberty, Aguerri has been subjected to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, a victim of the lack of rule of law.
