There is no consensus. For the fourth time this week, the plenary session of the Congress in which the minority opinion of the congressman for Peru Libre, Jaime Quito, on the advancement of elections, was to be debated.
The proposal entered debate after rejecting the replacement text proposed by the president of the Constitution Commission, Hernando Guerra Garciawhich contemplated complementary general elections next December.
The Quito ruling, meanwhile, proposes that the general elections be held within 120 calendar days of the entry into force of the norm, which would imply that they take place in May of this year. This is so that the new authorities, says the proposal, assume their positions on July 28.

Likewise, it is proposed to carry out a consultation for the convocation of a Constituent Assembly. This initiative has the support of the left blocks, but the opposition of the rest of the benches.
It was at the request of congressman Jaime Quito himself that the session scheduled for today at 10 in the morning has been postponed to 3 in the afternoon in order to refine the proposal that, in the opinion of several constitutionalists, violates the Political Constitution since it does not contemplates the possibility of a consultation for a Constituent Assembly.
