The Ministry of Education (Mineduc) presented a bill on Wednesday that seeks to consolidate a common evaluation system for all teachers in establishments that receive state funding.
The initiative proposes that, to assess the knowledge, skills and abilities of teachers, the two instruments of the Teaching Career will be considered:
- An assessment of disciplinary and pedagogical knowledge.
- A portfolio with detailed evidence of professional work.
The project “will mean significant savings to the treasury, which will allow more training support for educators and teachers for educational reactivation and pedagogical innovation,” they said from the Mineduc.
The Mineduc also indicated that the initiative introduces other improvements, such as the following:
- Mentoring for beginning teachers: improvements are introduced to favor the participation of beginning teachers in mentoring, a key program for professional development.
- Teachers of Teachers Network: the network will be strengthened to support teachers who need to progress in the Recognition System.
