The voices of Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino and Aymée Nuviola come together on an album dedicated to Martí

MADRID, Spain.- With the voices of renowned Latin American and Cuban artists such as Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino, Andy García and Aymée Nuviola, it is now available in the digital platforms the disc José Martí, Verses of Cuba, Songs of Freedom.

The album, in commemoration of the 170th anniversary of the birth of the National Hero of Cuba, gathers 14 songs and a bonus track based on the “Versos Sencillos” (1891) by José Martí.

The themes are: “Everything is beautiful”, “Let me go to the bohío”, “Guantanamera”, “Oyeme guajiro”, “A lonely and captive people”, “With the poor of the earth”, “I come from all parts”, “The girl from Guatemala”, “The Spanish dancer”, “My little one”, “Los zapaticos de rosa” “Alza tu grito”, “Verso”, “Amigo del verso simple” and the bonus track “La Cuba mine”.

In “La Cuba mía” the voice of the great Celia Cruz (1925-2003) to that of the actor of Cuban origin Andy García and that of Lucrecia.

In addition to the aforementioned artists, Albita, Antonio Carmona, Lissette, Alexis Valdés, Claudia Valdés, Marisela Verena, Leslie Cartaya, Jorge Hernández, Nicole Samara, Roy Pinatel, Guadalupe Lancho, Javi López Rollan and Sarah Gómez also collaborated.

According to a statement quoted by the Spanish news agency EFEthe arrangements were in charge of the Spanish Daniel García Diego and the Puerto Rican José Negroni, both pianists and composers.

“In these verses poetry, humanity, and the political dimension of a man who gave his life for the independence of Cuba come together” and “you can learn a little more about the thought of one of the most influential writers in America, the great José Martí ”, says the statement.

The idea was born from producer Oscar Gómez, who has also organized a musical show to celebrate the birth of Martí that will be presented this fall in the city of Miami.
