The Draft Law on Inspection, Regularization, Action and Financing of Non-Governmental and Related Organizationsapproved in the first discussion by the National Assembly (AN)is in a discussion process with the Popular power organized. The scope of this regulation was addressed by the deputy, Juliana Ruizwhich states that organizations must be accountable for their funding.
During an interview on the show In the airwhich transmits Venezuelan Television (VTV)pointed out that “This Law is going to help us spread the word about what has been done with all this financing that has reached the NGOs (Non-governmental organizations). We have a great responsibility towards our people, because we must explain to them what has happened in all this time and what has happened to those resources”.
In this sense, he pointed out that “these organizations had other purposes, they were directed at the media. They are supposed to serve the most vulnerable sectors under very specific conditions, Until today’s sun, we have not been able to verify what has happened, for sure, with the financing”.
For this reason, the parliamentarian stressed that there must be control and monitoring of financing, “A rendering of accounts. All Venezuelans have the right to know, it cannot be a secret. It is financing, what is it for, why, with whom, for what purpose”.
He also stated that “It is time for them (the NGOs) to give an account, to what extent they have an impact in some sectors, political activities, calls that have affected the stability, emotionality and coexistence of our country”.
Finally, he indicated that the Bill is under review: “the revision of this Law is in the hands of the National Policy Commission of the AN, we are waiting for a more in-depth analysis to be carried out to be able to bring it to a full discussion, of the organized People’s Power. It is a Law that is in full study”.
In the discussion process, the sanctions that will be applied will be specified, in case of violating the regulations.
