Within Minexpo Colombia 2023, the Copper Innovation Hub presented production projections for the projects in Colombia of his associates. According to the analysis, the country would have the capacity to produce between 500,000 and 700,000 tonsneladas coppermade from 2030 each year if the projects that are already underway are developed.

According to Jonathan Castillo, part of the Quintil Valley technical team that is part of the project, this is the potential of all titles. “As some are in the exploration stage, it may vary as progress is made, but this is the initial calculation”.
Castillo points out that for that year, the world would require 1.4 million tons of copper, In other words, the country would be able to produce half of what the world demands.

This is essential considering that the energy transition process, which will intensively require minerals such as copper, explained Castillo. The country currently has projects for this mineral in the exploration process.
The Hub has as partners Quebradona, Libero Copper, Royal Road, Max Resource, Cordoba Minerals, Metalmax, International Materials and Volador Colombia, based on whose resources the projection was made.
