Deputy Arthur Lira (PP-AL) is the favorite to be re-elected as mayor. The parliamentarian is the representative of the block of 21 parties, which brings together 496 congressmen: PT, PL, União Brasil, PP, MDB, PSD, Republicanos, PSDB, Citizenship, Podemos, PSC, PDT, PSB, Avante, Solidariedade, Pros, Patriota and PTB.
Deputy Chico Alencar (PSOL-RJ) will also run for President of the House and is supported by the federation formed by his party and Network, which brings together 14 deputies. The other candidate is deputy Marcel Van Hatten (Novo-RS), who has the support of his initials – currently with three parliamentarians.
The session will be chaired by Deputy Átila Lins (PSD-AM), the oldest among those with the most mandates (nine, in all). The Board of Directors is composed of seven fixed positions and four substitutes.
For the other positions, the following deputies registered candidacies: 1st vice-presidency: Marcos Pereira (Republicanos/SP); 2nd vice-presidency: Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL/RJ) and Luciano Vieira (PL/RJ), as separate; 1st secretary: Luciano Bivar (UNIÃO/PE); 2nd secretary: Maria do Rosário (PT/RS); 3rd secretary: Júlio Cesar (PSD/PI); 4th secretary: Lucio Mosquini (MDB/RO). The alternate candidates are: André Ferreira (PL/PE), Gilberto Nascimento (PSC/SP), Beto Pereira (PSDB/MS).
The calculation is carried out by position, starting with the president of the Chamber. To be elected, the candidate needs an absolute majority of votes in the first round or to be the most voted in the second round. After the election of the new president, the votes of the other members of the board of directors will be calculated: two vice-presidents, four secretaries and four substitutes.
