Political, union and social organizations will carry out this Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. a new mobilization for the “democratization of the Judiciary” and in support of the request for impeachment against the Supreme Court of Justice, in front of the Palace of Courts of Buenos Aires, where the highest court.
In a press conference held at the headquarters of the Argentine Judicial Federation (FJA), the general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Argentina (CTA) and representative of the Frente de Todos, Hugo Yasky, called for a demonstration against “a judicial leadership that was co-opted by the powerful of this country”.
And he exemplified with the “discretionary” actions of the judges of the Court that “they run to guarantee (the head of the Buenos Aires Government Horacio Rodríguez) Larreta the resources that were arbitrarily replaced, but they go at a snail’s pace so that it is not investigated who attacked Cristina (Fernández de Kirchner)”.
The convening groups, including the CTA, the Autonomous CTA (CTAA), the Federation of Social Economy Workers (Fetraes), the CGT, the CCC and the APDH indicated that the protest will take place from 5:00 p.m. in front of the Courts
The head of the Autonomous CTA and the State Workers Association (ATE), Hugo Godoy, indicated in turn that the impeachment request to the Court should be a “priority of the Argentine people” because “this Supreme Court of the (in )justice wants to become a parallel government with its opinions” and added that this Wednesday’s call will be “a day in demand, so that the political-judicial persecution ceases.”
The reference of Mothers of Plaza de Mayo Founding Line Nora Cortiñas told Télam that the call “will draw attention so that people know that democracy is in danger with this Supreme Court.”
He added that if the opposition in the debate over the impeachment request “refuses on a whim and to endanger democracy” they are wrong, because “the people will take to the streets when necessary.”
The director of Children and Gender of the Ombudsman’s Office and vice president of the APDH, María Elena Naddeo, told Télam that “the current Supreme Court has a very conservative bias, without women and hegemonic. We need to expand it to give it plurality, diversity and territoriality.” .
He added that by not giving a quorum for the treatment of the impeachment project “the opposition is violating elementary principles of democracy and with this petty attitude it hinders the sanction of other very important laws.”
“If they do not agree, they should vote against it, but it is their obligation to give a quorum and participate because that is the essence of democracy,” Naddeo remarked.
In the same sense, the judge of the Oral Criminal Court 29, Juan María Ramos Padilla, affirmed that in the debate in the Impeachment Committee in the Chamber of Deputies “there is a lot of rubbish to bring out (to light) and he is going to allow everyone to let’s see that this justice does not work for the general welfare”. He added that “everyone is very clear that the judiciary does not treat the worker the same as the businessman.”

In the document that invites the mobilization “For the democratization of the Judiciary” it is insisted that “this Court has to leave because it has been able to contradict rulings that recognized and expanded rights, issuing sentences contrary to what the Constitution mandates and international Treaties, to the detriment of workers and workers”.
In particular, a call is made for the debate to be installed in society and support is expressed for those from the Impeachment Committee in Deputies “seeking to reverse this situation and make effective the impeachment that displaces the courtiers who have not complied with his task and with his commitment to the country”.
“We feel that we must once again support and accompany them,” the organizers maintain.
