Plenary will continue this Tuesday with the debate on the advancement of elections. Congressman ‘Nano’ Guerra García will present a substitute text that must be agreed upon by the benches.
The Congress of the republic will resume on Tuesday plenary session in which the project to advance elections for 2023 will be discussed, a proposal that was submitted for reconsideration on January 30. However, shortly after starting the session, the outlook is not encouraging to reach 87 votes due to the conditions, initiatives and positions that each bench has to give their support.
Congressman Arturo Alegría, from Fuerza Popular, indicated in Exitosa that the new proposal to advance elections worked on by Hernando Guerra García would have between 78 and 80 votes. But, to know the real consensus, we will still have to wait for the presentation of the replacement text that will be submitted for debate.
Which benches will support the early elections?
The initiative promoted by Fuerza Popular has received both criticism and the support of some benches. This occurred after the president of the Constitution Commission presented a reconsideration last Thursday, January 26, so that the early elections are this 2023.
Since that date, various parliamentary blocs have already made their position clear on whether or not they will support the project.
