After the alerts for a possible shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for the closure of the via Panamerica, both the local distribution companies, such as Gasnova (LPG union) and the Government started contingency plans to resolve the situation in the area.

Thus, Gasnova reported that this Tuesday he arrived at the port of Tumaco (Nariño) the Queen Zenobia ship, coming from Houston, United States. It transports a cargo of 2,550 tons of LPG, which represents 50% of the monthly consumption in the department of this fuel.

“The arrival of this vessel was possible thanks to the joint work of the National Government and the LPG distributors that serve the region, which, after the closure of the Pan-American highway that connects the departments of southwestern Colombia, activated a contingency plan”, affirmed Alejandro Martínez Villegas, president of Gasnova.

It should be remembered that in recent days cargoes also arrived by land, from Ecuador, to meet the demand of this region.
Despite the fact that the situation is being addressed, the union called on the Government to provide a fundamental solution for the south of the country, since it has already presented interruptions due to this type of situation. Martínez pointed out that the construction of a polyduct should be considered.
