The number of Cuban hospitals for the medical examination of migrants to the US is expanded

The United States Embassy in Havana reported this monday of the approval of three more hospital centers in the capital to be able to undergo the necessary medical examination to apply for immigrant visas.

To the Manuel Fajardo hospital in El Vedado, in the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución, the only one where the study was carried out so far, they joinin the same neighborhood, the Pedro Borrás, the Freyre de Andrade General Hospital (known as Emergencies), in Centro Habana and the Diez de Octubre Clinical-Surgical Hospital (known as La Dependent), in the municipality of the same name.

The Pedro Borrás hospital will be the one that receives the applicants for the diversity visas (DV), those of fiancé (K), those of relatives of refugees or asylees (I-730) and the cases of the Parole Program (CFRP) of all the provinces.

Cubans regret that many days pass between the consular interview and that they can access the health examination and describe the long lines outside the hospital centers

Applicants for other visas from the provinces of Havana, Pinar del Río, Matanzas, Santiago de Cuba and Villa Clara should contact Manuel Fajardo. Those from Isla de la Juventud, Ciego de Ávila, Artemisa, Mayabeque, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spíritus, to Emergencies, and those from Guantánamo, Granma, Las Tunas, Holguín and Camagüey, to La Dependent.

In its brief message on its social networks, the diplomatic headquarters hints at the number of requests they are processing, on which they say they are working “hard.”

The dozens of comments on the embassy publication also show the delay in the processes. The majority, for example, are applicants who have already been interviewed, and who already have their medical examination, who ask that travel permits be expedited. Several of them assure that, after five months waiting, they still have no news.

In addition, in several Facebook groups in which people who are processing a visa to emigrate to the US meet, one of the main complaints about the process is precisely the delay in the medical check-up. Cubans lament that many days pass between the consular interview and being able to access the health exam and describe the long lines outside the hospital centers, even warning of problems with the devices for making payments by magnetic card.
