Santo Domingo.- The free zone park of Esperanza, Valverde province, increased its payroll this year from 1,721 to 3,120 direct jobs, with a projection of increasing from 4,500 to 5,000 in the remainder of this year.
The data was offered during a visit by Ulises Rodríguez, general director of the Center for Industrial Development and Competitiveness (PROINDUSTRY), to the Esperanza free zone park, at a time when he was sharing with managers and operators of the Looseleaf company, dedicated to the industrialization of tobacco.
“The data from this park is very important if we consider that Esperanza is a relatively small municipality, and its location corresponds to the province of Valverde, far from the industrial centers of Santo Domingo and Santiago,” Rodríguez explained.
He said that as is known direct jobs have a significant impact on families, and indirect jobs in commerce, transportation, food production and other activities that are favored.
A job, a family
Rodríguez said that in Proindustria, as in all government agencies, the criterion instilled by President Luis Abinader prevails that behind each job we must see the maintenance or support of a family.
He said that this is why Proindustria is following its support for free zone parks very closely and carefully, which last year set new records for job creation and investment last year.
He said that all this effort has an impact on the improvement of the quality of life of the people, the increase in exports and foreign exchange, and the technological transfers that we receive from the free zone companies.
During his visit to the Esperanza free zone company, the director of Proindustria shared with Mr. Melvin Rodríguez, one of the partners, and with the company’s personnel, with whom he was interested in learning details of their work.
