Herrera and Panamá Oeste are one win away from the Youth Baseball semifinals

The teams from Herrera and Panamá Oeste were one win away from sweeping their respective series and advancing to the semifinals of the Youth Baseball Championship, beating Panama Este and Chiriquí Occidente respectively.

With an intractable Rance Pinilla on the mound, Herrera beat Panama East by 6 runs to 0 to put the series 3-0 in his favor, a match held at the Jose de la Luz Thompson stadium in Chepo.

Pinilla pitched 8 solid scoreless innings, fanning 11 batters, with only two walks and seven hits to earn the victory, while on offense César García hit a home run driving in three runs and Julio Casas also took her out of the stadium and he drove in two runs to be the best for Herrera.

At the Glorias Deportivas Baruenses stadium, the West Panama Cowboys defeated Chiriquí Occidente 9 runs by 3 to put the series 3-0 in their favor.

Adrián Saavedra went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one scored to spark the cowboys’ offense, while Jean Rodríguez went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk.
