The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) declared a red alert on Sunday night for the commune of Tomé, Biobío Region, due to a forest fire in the area.
According to data from the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), the incident had consumed an estimated area of two hectares until Sunday night. The fire developed in the vicinity of inhabited sectors.
“In consideration of this technical background of Conaf and in coordination with the Regional Presidential Delegation of Biobío, the Regional Directorate of Senapred, declares a Red Alert for the commune of Tomé due to a forest fire, valid from today and until the conditions of the fire so require. merit,” Senapred said in a statement.
With the declaration of the red alert, “all necessary and available resources will be mobilized, in additional support to what has already been deployed by Conaf, Firefighters and the National System for Disaster Prevention and Response (Sinapred)” to fight the fire, they added from the service.
