In the face of the crisis in Haiti, they ask the government to shield the border and speed up the wall

Ante crisis en Haití, solicitan al gobierno blindar la frontera y acelerar el muro

The president of the Dominican Council of Evangelical Unity (CODUE), Feliciano Lacen, asked the government to shield the border to avoid a stampede of Haitians as a result of despair over the serious crisis that is shaking the neighboring country.

The priest fears that there will be an attack on the border as a result of a stampede, that the military will have to respond to the situation to safeguard sovereignty and that international organizations want to intervene in the entire island.

“It sounds to me that this is what they want to do with the Dominican Republic, but the President of the Republic, who is a wise man and has advisers, what he should do is keep the border armored, speed up the wall and do everything he has to do. , by air and land, keep vigilance and the border safe,” he said during an interview on the program Esferas de Poder, which is broadcast on Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., on RNN, channel 27.

The evangelical pastor maintained that if it is necessary to take a loan to build a wall and shield the border, he supports the initiative.

“So, my exhortation to the government at this moment is to shield the border, not a drill and that a group of soldiers walk around, that surveillance be real and that the wall be worked on in an accelerated manner because strength is needed on the border because That represents a danger,” he said.

Recognizing the challenge and the danger it represents for the country, he said that if there is a stampede, if the military wants to respond and there are deaths, then international organizations will come to intervene in the nation.

“I think that’s the ultimate Intention, to intervene the entire island”, he argued, for which he understands that the Dominican authorities must take measures to prevent this from happening.

Lacen indicated that Dominican Republic it must keep its embassies closed in Haiti and diplomats return to the country.

“Many embassies have already removed their diplomats, the Dominican Republic must have all the embassies closed and all its diplomats on this side,” he stressed.
