Santiago Nieto takes refuge to find out about the progress of the FGR investigations against him

Through an amparo trial, the former head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Santiago Nieto Castillo, intends to know the progress of the investigations that the Attorney General’s Office is carrying out against him for alleged illicit enrichment.

According to records of the Federal Judiciary, the former federal official and who currently heads the Hidalgo Attorney General’s Office, filed an appeal for amparo that is filed in the tenth district court.

The information indicates that Nieto Castillo has been investigated since December 2021 within an investigation folder in which the Federal Public Ministry has requested various reports from institutions such as the Ministry of Public Administration.

Federal officials indicated that the investigation is related to patrimonial issues that involve the acquisition of four properties and vehicles. In this investigation, the assets owned by Carla Humphrey, INE counselor, are also reviewed.

In the amparo that he presented on January 17, the former head of the FIU requested the protection of federal justice, since no response has been given to his requests for access to the content of the investigation folder and for this reason he points out that the Ministry Federal Public has incurred in acts of omission.
