The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, José Manuel Albares, indicated in statements to EFE that the opposition delegation requested that his country be part of the dialogue process. “And of course I have answered them in the affirmative,” he said.
Spain reported that it will accompany the dialogue process between the government of Nicolás Maduro and the opposition. The information was provided by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of that country, José Manuel Albares, this after the request made by the opposition delegation with which he met in Madrid.
Albares indicated in statements to EFE that the opposition delegation requested that Spain be part of the dialogue process. “And of course I have answered them in the affirmative,” he said.
In this sense, he indicated that he was not asked for any type of explicit medication, but for support and accompaniment in the process. The meeting was held at the request of the Unitary Platform of the Venezuelan opposition, which chose Spain, a country that he considers a main actor, to start a round by different European countries.

Albares indicated that in the meeting they exchanged points of view on the moment in which the process is and on how to continue advancing positively. He stressed that Spain is at the disposal of Venezuela and the Venezuelans for anything that can advance this process of dialogue.
He recalled that his country was already providing support in the dialogue and expressed that a meeting with the government of Nicolás Maduro is not planned for now. Regarding the possibility of Spain appointing a representative for this dialogue, he explained that the ambassador in Caracas, Ramón Santos, plays an important role.
“You are not thinking of designating a person. Rather, the entire Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with him at the head, is at the disposal of this dialogue between Venezuelans, ”she said.
The meeting was attended by Luis Aquiles, Mariela Magallanes, Tomás Guanipa, Luis Emilio Rondón, Freddy Guevara and Roberto Enríquez from the Venezuelan delegation. But the head of the opposition delegation for negotiations with the Maduro government, Gerardo Blyde, did not finally attend.
