Reginfo dominated his semifinal heat with 6.72 seconds, a mark he improved on in the final when he stopped the clocks in 6.66 seconds. Lescay, who is based in the Valencian community, began his presentation with a jump of 7.84 meters, then set marks of 6.22 and 7.60, and after committing a foul he stretched to 7.79 meters before to achieve the record that gave him the victory, according to the website of the competition.
Of the group of ten athletes with which the Cuban federation covers the winter season, the high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas will be the next to take action when he performs next Tuesday in Nehvizdy, Czech Republic.
