The mandatary Nicolas Maduro received, on Friday, January 27, the ex-soccer players Michel Salgado Y David Trazeguetwho gave him football shirts from Real Madrid and the French team.
The meeting was at the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas. Although they did not offer further details of what was discussed at the meeting, Trezeguet and Salgado were received by Maduro with the aim of “reconfiguring solid ties” with national and international sports organizations, in addition to sharing new experiences and strategies that nourish the sports route.
On his Twitter account, the president said that “it was an honor to have received David Trezeguet and Miguel Ángel Salgado, stars of World Soccer, at the Casa del Pueblo. Welcome to Venezuela. They have been an example of perseverance and discipline for those of us who love soccer and sports.”

He added that “athletes like Trezeguet and Salgado can transform the future of the world’s children and young people with passion, dedication and discipline.”

Salgado grew up in the ranks of Celta de Vigo, wore the colors of Real Madrid and hung up his boots in the English Premier League with Backburn Rovers. He also wore the shirt of the Spanish team in more than fifty games, some in the Eurocup in Belgium and the Netherlands in 2000 and in the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
While Trezeguet was champion with the French team in the 1998 World Cup, as well as the 2000 Euro Cup and played for AS Monaco with which he won two titles.
