The new companies that will settle in the border area

The plenary session of the Coordination Council of the Special Border Development Zone (CCDF), in its first assembly of 2023, approved three new projects, which will be installed in the provinces of Montecristi, Dajabón and Elías Piña.

According to the statement, the Plenary of the Council met on January 26, to hear the requests of companies interested in taking advantage of the regime 12-21 of border development.

The new companies accepted under Law 12-21 are:

  • RIW, S.R.L.which will be located in Elías Piña and will produce non-alcoholic beverages, with a projection in its operational phase of 251 jobs.
  • Machiagro, S.R.L.which will settle in the province of Montecristi, with a projection of 154 jobs in its operational phase dedicated to the production of bananas.
  • Ramón Báez Rodríguez Hijos & Asociados Industrial, SRLwhich will be in the province of Dajabón producing base metals.

The investment of the three companies that enter Law 12-21 exceed 530 million pesos.

“The approval of these three companies makes us feel happy to know that these businessmen have believed in Law 12-21, and have decided to go to the border to generate wealth and create jobs,” said the executive secretary of the CCDF, Erodis Diaz.

The CCDF Plenary also granted an extension of 60 calendar days to the hosted companies to the incentive regime of Law 28-01.

The Plenary of the Coordination Council of the Special Zone of border development (CCDF) is made up of the Ministries of Industry and Commerce and Mypimes (MICM); of Treasury; of Economy, Planning and Development (Mepyd); and Agriculture. Also, by the executive director of the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana).

In addition, the president and executive secretary of the CCDF designated by decree by the Executive Power, and a representative of the civil society of each of the provinces of the Special Zone.

Last July 2022, the CCDF Plenaryduring a session he announced the opening for the reception of investment projects with interest in being developed in the border zone enjoying the tax incentives established in Law 12-21.
