PRSC secretary general says Genao’s position is personal

Secretario general del PRSC dice posición de Genao es personal

SANTO DOMINGO.– The general secretary of the Christian Social Reformist Party Rafael (Papito) Cruz, stated that the “re-election proposals promoted by Senator Ramón Rogelio Genao are personal positions and not those that have been officially approved by the bodies of that organization, for which reason this right is strictly reserved for the members of the National Convention, which constitute the highest deliberative body of the party throughout the national territory.

Cruz pointed out that “the Reform Party is currently focused on the process of reviewing, restructuring and creating the Provincial Directorates and the National District; as well as 158 Municipal Directories and 235 Directories of Municipal and Foreign Districts.” Therefore, he highlighted “the greatest effort of the party at this time is strictly electoral, to expand our leadership enrollment and position the PRSC candidates in line to compete and win in the municipal elections to be held in February 2023.”

“The reformist party does not rule out alliances, but at this moment a new generation of reformists supported by the experience of traditional leadership, we have begun the reconstruction of a party up to the times, up to the future, an open political organization to society, creating a platform of power that can incorporate the best citizens into its ranks, and thus consolidate ourselves as a true option in the Dominican electorate”, added the Secretary General.

Finally, he added that the members of the party have the right to participate in the deliberations of the organs and agencies, set positions on internal and national issues; disagree within their bodies on decisions or approaches that they consider pertinent, which is a legitimate manifestation of respect for internal democracy and enjoyment of the full rights and duties established in the Statute.

Rafael Cruz (Papito) was president of the Reformist Party in Santiago, mayoral candidate in the last municipal elections, President of the Santiago City Council on 3 occasions, and alderman in 3 periods of the same City Council.

He was recently elected Secretary General of the Reformist Party in the National Assembly held in November.
