To celebrate the National Trans and Transvestite Visibility Day – January 29 -, Casa Florescer will participate in a march, starting at 2 pm, with concentration at the São Paulo Museum of Art (Masp), on Avenida Paulista, in the central region of the city . The VI Caminhada Trans de São Paulo is an act that seeks to fight for the acceptance and inclusion of the community.
On the same day, at 6 pm, the Florescer entourage presents a variety show on the schedule of SP Transvisão, from Escola São Paulo de Teatro. This is the 11th edition of the event, which is free. The objective is to promote actions aimed at the debate on tolerance and diversity, in addition to valuing culture and the LGBTQIA+ universe [lésbicas, gays, bissexuais, transexuais, travestis, queer, intersexo e assexuais].
Also open at Escola SP de Teatro, until Sunday (29), is the exhibition Manas por Manas – monitoring the health and self-care of the population of transvestites and trans women. With free admission, the exhibition shows the work of the Center for Research on Human Rights and Health of the LGBT Population, which has been carrying out research among this group for ten years, monitoring 400 trans and transvestite people in the process of self-care in health, for 16 also trans people and transvestites.
“This exhibition consists of three banners that explain the entire follow-up process and their processes as workers who experience similar situations regarding the maintenance of survival, racism, transphobia and thereafter, and how we, with the research, promote a space to care for those who care”, explained the supervisor of the research Manas por Manas, Clair Aparecida.

The exhibition also talks about Bonde das Manas, an initiative to encourage these people to access cultural spaces in the city. “These are testimonials from those who access these spaces and what the impacts are on their lives, how they authorize themselves to enter these spaces, which city is this that welcomes trans transvestite people”, said Clair Aparecida.
Since the 25th of January, several agencies in the capital of São Paulo have been providing services at Casa Florescer. The program also takes place in other parts of the city until February 1st. One of the assistance provided was to assist in the search for work, through Cate (Support Center for Work and Entrepreneurship) and Ade Sampa (São Paulo Development Agency), bodies linked to the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development and Labor, in Friday (27).
“We always try to include actions for all audiences in our calendar, seeking to meet the particularities of each group, with the aim of helping them enter the job market and generate income. We work with the trans and transvestite public in our job campaigns and also in the Transcidadania program, which works on several fronts in order to promote the recovery of citizenship for people who already face countless challenges in order to have access to opportunities and a quality life”, explained the municipal secretary of Economic Development and Work, Aline Cardoso.
Casa Florescer is a welcome center managed by the civil society organization Croph (Regional Coordination of Human Promotion Works), in partnership with the Municipal Secretariat for Assistance and Social Development. The space welcomes and assists 30 transgender and transvestite women in vulnerable situations free of charge.
