Brazilian Aline Rocha won, today (28), the bronze medal in the medium distance race (10 kilometers) for wheelchair users at the World Paralympic Cross-Country Ski Championship, held in Ostersund, Sweden. She finished the route in 36 minutes and one hundredth, two minutes, 15 seconds and two hundredths from the North American Kendall Gretsch, who took the gold, followed by the German Anja Wicker.
It was Aline’s third podium in the competition. Last Sunday (22), the 31-year-old from Paraná took bronze in the 18 kilometers. On Tuesday (24), she became the first Brazilian champion of the world in snow, when she won the race sprint (one kilometre).
Men and women
In addition to her, Brazil was also represented by Elena Sena in the ten kilometer women’s dispute. The 19-year-old came in sixth. Among men, Rondonian Cristian Ribera – who won bronze in the sprint, on Tuesday – he finished this Saturday’s race in eighth place, being the best of the Brazilians, with a time of 31 minutes and 36 seconds. Guilherme Rocha and Wesley dos Santos from São Paulo were in 16th and 19th place, respectively.
The Brazilian participation in the world championship comes to an end this Sunday (29) with the relay race, starting at 6 am (Brasília time).
