“We are a country of improvised governments”

The event was held at the San Bernardino amphitheater on Sunday night. His death occurred at the Itauguá National Hospital.

Torres and his wife were in the cabin area with Víctor “Tucu” Salazar, another Olimpia soccer player, and his wife, Daniela Barrientos. At one point, both couples go to the toilet area, where a man fired shots. The woman suffered two bullet wounds, one in the head and the other in the neck. Marcos Ignacio Rojas Mora received eight bullet wounds and died at the scene.

PUBLIC POLITICS
Sofía Scheid, doctor in education, affirms that the Paraguay of the future will be according to how we design it today. This, in the sense that, if public policies are not applied to eradicate this scourge, everything will remain the same or even worsen in the future.

“We are a country of improvised governments and more of the same, only dedicated to putting out fires. We do not have policies that direct the present and the future of Paraguayans,” he said.

Scheid questions that all the candidates who aspire to elective positions should propose solutions for this social problem but they do not. What discourages the panorama that is approaching for our country.

“We have had governments without strategic leadership. It is not easy to solve, but public policies are there for it,” he said.

MARTENS
Juan Martens, a doctor in criminology, reports that the advance of violence by organized crime now has greater visibility. This after the increase in murder cases.

He reported that in 2020 there were 486 murders nationwide, but in 2021, the figure increased to 542. This represents 56 more murders (7 murders per 100,000 inhabitants).

“At the country level there was an increase of 11%, but in departments such as San Pedro, Concepción, Cordillera and Central, the increase reached 50%,” he reported.

Finally, he said that our country is imitating the practices of Rio de Janeiro, a Brazilian state co-opted by drug traffickers. And that there is also a situation similar to that of Mexico, where there are cities run by drug cartels and where the State ignores them.

“Organized crime is penetrating the country territorially. This penetration is made thanks to the cooperation of the security forces and political protection”, he concluded.
